Why do we use fillers?
Healthy skin has an abundance of two important substances, collagen and hyaluronic acid, that keep your skin looking smooth and supple. Collagen is a protein that provides your skin with structual support. Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar found in all living cells that attracts and binds water, hydrating the skin and giving it volume.
With time, sunlight and other factors, collagen and hyaluronic acid in your skin diminish, the skin loses structure and volume, and unwelcome lines and wrinkles appear.
Now you can temorarily replace your skin's lost volume with today's revolutionary wrinkle fillers. These wrinkle fillers offer quick facial rejuvenation by filling in unflattering lines.
Naturally, there is a difference in the fillers depending on the areas of treatment. To determine which wrinkle filler is best for you, consult your physician.

What fillers can you use?
Filler agents can help achieve a youthful look by restoring volume loss in the many facial areas, including; cheeks, chin, nasolabial folds, temples, brows and lips. Facial fillers for rejuvenation have come a long way in recent years giving physicians a variety of choices in order to achieve the optimal outcome. Cosmetic fillers include: collagen for lip lines and superficial lines - Cosmoderm, Cosmoplast; hyaluronic acid - Juvederm, Restylane, Captique, Hylaform; Poly-L-lactic acid or Sculptra™; Calcium Hydroxylapitate-Radiesse, liquid injectable Silicone and the new permanent filler Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)-Artefill. Many factors must be taken into consideration when choosing the appropriate filler, such as, facial shape, bone structure, skin thickness, and the amount of volume needed.

What can I expect during a filler treatment?
All fillers require local numbing, which is applied to the area(s) 30 minutes prior to the treatment. Some filler need more extensive numbing with the use of nerve blocks –like those given by a dentist. Typically with filler, you can experience mild discomfort during the procedure as well as minor swelling of the area afterwards that will resolve within 24 to 48 hours. Also, there may be bruising around the injection sites that can last 5-7 days. Please discontinue the use of any aspirin, aspirin containing products or Vitamin E at least one week prior to the treatment to minimize bruising.
