What is Laser Eyelid Surgery/Blepharoplasty?
Laser eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is a technologically-advanced procedure performed to correct sagging or drooping of the eyelids, remove excess skin around the upper or lower eyelids, and to remove fatty pouches or “bags” beneath the eyes.

What can I expect?
The laser eyelid surgery is performed as an out-patient procedure under local anesthetic. The incision is made with a laser, which seals blood vessels as it cuts them, therefore there is less swelling, bruising or bleeding than with conventional blepharoplasties and offers better visualization for the surgeon to perform a more precise procedure resulting in a speedy recovery time for the patient. The incisions are closed using tiny sutures, which are removed after 6 or 7 days. Following surgery, patients should apply a cold compress to the eyelids for the first 24 to 48 hours. Additionally, patients are prescribed antibiotic drops for one week to prevent infection. A 24-hour post-operative check-up is required.
The results are typically outstanding and very satisfying to the patient. Some patients choose to have laser resurfacing of the lower eyelids in conjunction with the lower blepharoplasty, which erases wrinkles and enhances the results of the laser blepharoplasty.
