It is customary for Dr. Rostan to recommend cosmetic products in conjunction with cosmetic procedures to 1) enhance the benefit that may be achieved from a rejuvenation procedure, 2) to help the skin heal from any such procedure and/or 3) to maintain and protect results. Some of the products we most often recommend to our patients to help achieve such results are:
Topical antioxidants (Vitamin C-concentrated L-Ascorbic Acid, Idebonone, Coffee Berry) - Topical antioxidants have been shown to provide up to eight times the skin's natural protection from UVdamage. Sunscreens are also an important part, although they cannot do it alone. Antioxidants protect your skin in ways sunscreen can't. When used together, antioxidants and sunscreens provide almost complete photoprotection, therefore, protecting from photoaging, preventing fine lines and wrinkles, and promoting good skin health.
Retinoids (Retinol, Renova, Retin-A, Tazorac) - Retinoids aid in protecting collagen and promote rapid cell regeneration. Studies show that using these products can help to prevent and treat fine lines and wrinkles, age spots (brown spots) caused by photoaging and intrinsic-aging.
Growth Factors (Neocutis, Journee) - Growth factors are associated with cell renewal and rejuvenation, helping to heal wounds and burns. Additionally, growth factors help to repair photodamaged skin and help repair the skin after laser and light treatments.
Sunscreens - Not all sunscreens are alike, that is why many Dermatologists are making quality sunscreens available for purchase in their offices. Studies have shown that the most effective ingredients to protect your skin from not only the UVB rays but also the UVA rays are Micronized Zinc, Titanium Dioxide and the newly FDA approved Mexoryl. These products help to optimally protect your skin from skin cancer and photodamage, as well as, protect results achieved by cosmetic procedures to help promote collagen stimulation and brown spot removal. For your convenience many of the sunscreens that we recommend also have an adequate moisturizer, therefore, eliminating an extra step in your daily skincare routine.
